Herschberger, Nelson M.
October 25, 1946 - January 19, 2025

Nelson M Herschberger, 78 of Arcola, Illinois passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 5:20 A.M. at his residence.

Nelson was born on October 25, 1946, in Arthur, Illinois to Menno D & Esther (Beachy) Herschberger. He married Clara C. Bontrager on November 26, 1970, in Tuscola, Illinois.

Visitation will be held any time after 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 20, 2025, and any time after 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, all at the HCK Building, 1 mile south Arthur, Illinois. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the HCK Building. Bishop Daniel Rocke will officiate. Burial will be in the Otto Cemetery, Arthur, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife Clara and 10 children. Larry Herschberger of Arcola IL, Allen Herschberger and his wife Saloma of Chouteau OK, Louise Herschberger of Arcola IL, Lorene Schrock and her husband Harvey of Sullivan IL, Esther Herschberger of Arcola IL, Carolyn Slabaugh and her husband Allen of Arthur IL, Darrell Herschberger and his wife Wanda of Arthur, IL, Richard Herschberger of Arcola, IL, Treva Helmuth and her husband Tyson of Lovington IL, Eldon Herschberger and his wife Kierra of Shelbyville IL: 23 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 1 sister Marie Schrock of Warsaw OH and 3 brothers Samuel Herschberger and his wife Dorothy, Edwin Herschberger and his wife Katie, Lester Herschberger, all of Arthur, IL and a sister-in-law Dorothy Hostetler of Arcola IL

He was preceded in death by his parents, Menno & Esther, 2 sons Eugene & Steven, 1 daughter- in-law, Edna Herschberger, 2 brothers Abraham & Junior, 2 brothers-in-law Dan Schrock & Ervin Hostetler.

Nelson was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Hershey, Clair M.
December 4, 1931 - January 9 2025

Clair M. Hershey, 93, of Landis Homes, Lititz, went home to be with the Lord on January 9, 2025. He was married to Kathryn (Kitty) Esbenshade Hershey for 66 years. He was born in Salisbury Township, Pa to the late Maurice S. and Mary K. Martin Hershey.

He was a member of Strasburg Mennonite Church where he served in many ways including trustee, S.S. Superintendent and teacher. Clair enjoyed volunteering at Black Rock Retreat and served as the Board President. Most recently he volunteered his time at Landis Homes.

After marriage Clair and Kitty owned and operated Hershade Holstein Farm for 19 years. He also was President of the Lancaster County Holstein Association. He later was a realtor with Town & Country Realty and in retirement he was an Escort Driver for High Transit. He enjoyed traveling, and outdoor activities such as golf, walking, swimming and hunting. Clair also enjoyed time in San Juan Puerto Rico, and Florida each February.

Surviving in addition to his wife, is a brother-in-law Merle (Nancy) Groff and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are two brothers, Glen Hershey and Melvin (Susan) Hershey. As well as two sisters, Ruth (Daniel) Denlinger and Jean (Merle) Groff.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Clair's memorial service at Strasburg Mennonite Church, 1514 Village Road, Strasburg, PA 17579 on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Visitation with the family will immediately follow the service at the church. Interment will be private in the adjoining church cemetery.
